The Most Viewed Twitch Streamers of 2020

Twitch is one of the world’s biggest social platforms, encompassing everything that there is when it comes to live-streaming. Millions of streamers worldwide have their lives shown on display here when they chat, play games, and generally hang out. But who are the most viewed Twitch streamers 2020?
Most Viewed Twitch Streamers 2020 List
2020 was a year that will go down in history without a doubt. There is so much that happened during that year that changed the way people around the world and in different countries will look at things. It is also a year in which many people were at home and had more free time.
This led to the video game industry skyrocketing, seeing sales numbers for previously unheard games. It also meant that many fans on Twitch, YouTube, and other platforms watched more streamers and content creators than they would have otherwise.
As such, the viewership for the year was astronomical. Many brand new streamers rose through the ranks to become some of the most popular people in the gaming industry. This is also likely due to some massively popular games that came out in 2020 as well.
Games like Call of Duty Warzone, Modern Warfare, Valorant, Fall Guys, Among Us, and many more either came out that year or shot through the ranks to become some of Twitch’s most popular video games. This led to countless streamers becoming famous in the process.
As such, we will list the most viewed Twitch streamers 2020 using the top 10 streamers who we have found to be the most viewed on that platform, in particular. Of course, this is not the easiest to accomplish since Twitch doesn’t exactly release official stats so easily like these.
But we have come up with this list based on the stats that the website SullyGnome has come up with. They listed the various stats for each streamer for 2020, like how many followers gained, views, stream time, and so on.
There is a lot to unpack here, but we will focus only on the most viewed Twitch streamers 2020 for this particular list. This means that these are the content creators on Twitch who gained the most views during the year. In this case, we are using the more readily available watch hours stat.
As such, there is some room for error as SullyGnome is by no means an official source of information regarding the most viewed Twitch streamers 2020. However, we do think that based on trends and what we know about the platform from last year, these numbers are probably pretty accurate.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the top 10 most viewed Twitch streamers 2020 in order from the 10th most viewed streamers to the No, 1 streamer who defined the year. Let’s take a look at the biggest streamers for the entire year.
10. Rubius
First up on this list is Rubius, a streamer on Twitch who plays games in Spanish. He has been around for several years, getting his start as a popular YouTuber. He has since found a lot of success on Twitch as well, averaging with a ton of viewers on his streams.
He is probably most known for his time in Minecraft. Rubius is a massive Twitch streamer who can quickly bring in anywhere around 70,000-80,000 viewers on average in a single stream at the same time. These massive viewer counts have earned him a spot in the No. 10 spot.
According to the stats that SullyGnome has provided, it looks like Rubius had around 62 million hours of views in total that he was able to wrack up during the 2020 year. These are unbelievable numbers that quickly point to him being one of the biggest content creators ever to touch the platform.
9. Fextralife
The next entry on this list is an interesting one for a few reasons. At the No. 9 spot is the Fextralife Twitch account. You may have heard this name before. This RPG group is dedicated to streaming, written articles, wikis, and more is pretty massive.
Not to be confused with the amazing ExtraLife charity organization that focuses on video games, Fextralife is an organization that is both a Twitch channel and a website. It is unproven if this is the case, but we know that some websites have used this dual nature to rise through the Twitch ranks.
Fextralife has its Twitch streams embedded at the bottom of its popular wiki pages, potentially increasing the number of views since it is killing two birds with one stone. That said, the team at Fextralife is entertaining and fun to watch, and their RPG expertise and passion is unmatched, more than well-deserving of the more than 66 million hours of watch time from viewers in 2020.
8. Auronplay
Next up at the No. 8 spot is Auronplay. Another Spanish-speaking YouTuber who has found a massive audience on Twitch, like Rubius, Auronplay is a giant content creator who has become one of the most popular ones in the entire world.
He is very successful on YouTube, but he has found an equally impressive audience on Twitch and more than six million followers to date. This audience enjoys watching him play games like Rust that is still somehow kicking in 2021, and trendy games like Among Us, Cyberpunk 2077, and Genshin Impact.
When it comes to Twitch numbers in 2020, Auronplay was one of the largest Spanish-speaking content creators, able to amass an unbelievable 67 million watch hours during the entire year. This makes him only the second-biggest Spanish-speaking content creator in all of Twitch.
7. Ibai
Though the previous entry on this list is a massive stream in his own right, there is one other Spanish-speaking content creator who barely beats him out in terms of watch hours, and that is Ibai. Ibai was able to be the biggest Spanish-speaking Twitch streamer in the whole world in 2020, reaching well over 68 million watch hours across his massive fanbase.
The 25-year old Spanish streamer is another person who has been keeping games like Rust alive. This is the game that he has almost exclusively been streaming lately on his Twitch channel. It looks like that isn’t going to be changing anytime soon.
Ibai has proven that the game still has legs and that his audience will enjoy watching him play it. As the biggest Spanish streamer in the entire world at this time, he is someone that we highly recommend you check out.
6. Loltyler1
Loltyler1, or T1, is one of the biggest streamers in the world. He has been for a long time when you exclude the time he was banned from League of Legends for around two years. He has remained near the top of the Twitch records, despite his controversial past.
His watch time for 2020 came in at 68.54 million hours, just barely beating the No. 7 entry in the process. It is clear that he is not stopping anytime soon and will continue to grow as one of the biggest League of Legends players of all-time as part of the T1 team.
Given this particular streamer’s toxic nature, we won’t recommend that anyone go and watch him that much as other healthier players for sure are popular. Still, we can’t deny that he is one of the most influential content creators around, for better or for worse.
5. Nickmercs
Moving away from the controversial nature of the last entry, we have someone who is much more impressive and well worth watching overall: Nickmercs. Nickmercs has been at the top of the Twitch leaderboards for a long time. 2020 proved he isn’t stopping anytime soon.
With even an awards nomination for The Game Awards 2020 for the content creator of the year and the only nominee in the top 10 for the year, it’s clear that Nickmercs is one of the best streamers around. If that isn’t enough, his stats help with that as his massive audience watched many of his content last year.
Going from the last entry to this one, we have a pretty big jump to 73.4 million hours of watch time that Nickmercs could accumulate from his viewers last year. Fans of Call of Duty Warzone and fitness should make sure to check him out if you aren’t already.
4. ESL Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
From there, we come to an exciting Twitch channel that is one-of-a-kind on this list. The ESL_CSGO Twitch channel is the only esports league channel that could make it into the top 10 of Twitch accounts for the most viewed watch time in 2020.
While many would argue that other esports leagues and games are much better or interesting or bring up how old Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is, there is no doubt that it remains at the top of the esports games, at least in terms of how substantial its fanbase is.
It came in fourth place, having a whopping total of 79.7 million watch time hours over the past year. That is unbelievably impressive to the point where a live stream of a rerun of a match was able to get more than 350,000 views on its own quickly, and it wasn’t even the actual live match itself.
3. Summit1g
Speaking of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the next entry on this list is one of the most beloved and popular CSGO players of all-time: Summit1g. The retired former pro player for the game made waves as one of the greatest to ever grace the battlefield in that game.
With his retirement from the pro scene, he has moved full-time into being a content creator on Twitch. While you would think that this would mean he would continue to show his skills in the game that arguably made him famous, that isn’t the case.
These days, the third-biggest streamer on Twitch of 2020 in terms of view time is playing Escape From Tarkov most days. And if you thought previous jumps were insane, this one destroys past ones with an unbelievable 108.6 million watch time hours for Summit1g in 2020.
2. Gaules
Coming in as the runner-up for the most viewed streamer of 2020, we have Gaules. If you have not heard of this massive streamer, that could be because he streams mostly in Portuguese. However, that hasn’t stopped him from being arguably the second-biggest content creator of last year.
Jumping up from the third-place streamer, Gaules was able to get a whopping 128.6 million hours of watch time last year from his fans, about 20 million more hours over the previous entry on this list. He also streamed more than almost anyone else on this list, except for the ESL CSGO account.
He plays a lot of CSGO, interestingly enough, but he has also found some massive success playing the ultra-hot Among Us that was one of Twitch’s biggest successes last year. One content creator only beats Gaules on Twitch for 2020.
1. xQc
The No. 1 most-watched Twitch streamer of 2020 is none other than xQc. This may not surprise anyone, but even still, the former Dallas Fuel pro player has been making waves for years. 2020 certainly looked like it could have been his biggest year to date.
xQc was making news quite often last year, more than ever before. He joined Luminosity Gaming as a full-time streamer, making it clear his disappointment with Season 5 of Fortnite, getting involved in the OfflineTV Rust server, and so much more.
It remains to be seen if xQc will be just as big in 2021 or even get bigger, but we do know that he was quite possibly the biggest Twitch streamer of 2020 at the very least. With an utterly unmatched total watch time of 148.9 million hours on his Twitch channel alone, there is no doubt that he was the most viewed streamer on Twitch last year.
