Legends of Runeterra Patch Notes 2.13.0: Yordles Coming Soon!

by in Legends of Runeterra | Jul, 27th 2021

Legends of Runeterra’s 2.13.0 patch notes are live, and we’re here to let you know what you can expect from LoR as we head deeper into this season. Don’t expect balance changes in this update, but there’s still plenty to be excited about. A new Lab, a new set/region reveal, and more information about the LoR World Championships, which should also be very exciting. We’re going to finally see the final faction/region join the game: Yordles! Whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, Bandle City is coming to Legends of Runeterra!

Lab of Legends: The Saltwater Scourge

In the 2.13.0 patch notes for Legends of Runeterra, we’ve got a new Lab of Legends. This next PVE battleground shows a lot of promise for wild card combos and plenty of mayhem. This mode is The Saltwater Scourge. This will not be replacing the existing Lab of Legends either, so keep that in mind. If you’re wondering when you can play this new lab, it’s tomorrow! On July 28th, at 10 AM PT, when Patch 2.13 drops. But what’s in the mode?

You can pick from three Bilgewater Champs: Miss Fortune, Tahm Kench, or Twisted Fate. Players will be able to move around the Bilgewater map via nodes and other paths, and upon those nodes are a variety of features. Enemy encounters, treasures, shops, bosses, and much more. In The Saltwater Scourge, death is not the end either! You can respawn and restore health, at the expense of a lower adventure score. So you have to figure out if it’s worth it, or if you want to just try again.  The goal is to progress through the map, leveling up from defeating enemies, build a strong deck (through treasures and shops), and ultimately overcome Gangplank. Can you do it?

There are some differences between this and the original Lab of Legends too, like the level progression. Enemies still have their own powers like in the original, but now they have levels, and players can gain EXP/gold from defeating them. According to the devs, this is the first step in adding more features, maps, and unique encounters, as they receive feedback. Honestly, this sounds kind of awesome, and it has one of my favorite champs ready to play – Tahm Kench!

Expansion and Region Reveal – Beyond the Bandlewood

You knew they would come to the game sooner or later. The next set will be Beyond the Bandlewood and is officially revealed here in the Legends of Runeterra patch notes for 2.13.0. Instead of three expansions, it will feature four. The extra expansion will follow the first Bandle City expansion and arrive in November. The devs also noted that the December and following expansions will have a bit more content than past expansions. They’re still working on their patch plans and once they know more, you’ll know more!

It will also add a new PVE event, unlike any we’ve seen before. Now that sounds fun. What’s the theme of Beyond the Bandlewood? Magical curiosity, friendship, and the tricks of the Yordles and Bandle City. However, you might be asking yourselves some pretty serious questions. What about the Void? Ixtal? There are plenty of regions not being represented in Legends of Runeterra. They have to keep it to a decent number so it doesn’t become too cumbersome, we imagine. Consider the five colors in MTG, and then having colorless/multicolored. Those other champions still have a chance to show up in the game, but they will be tied to a faction that makes sense for them. Don’t worry!

LoR World Championship

Thanks to the 2.13.0 patch notes for Legends of Runeterra, we know when the LoR World Championship will take place, and it’s very soon. The celebration of the best players from around the world will take place from September 15th – 18th, though broadcast details are still being determined. We will make sure to keep you up to date with where and how you can watch the LoR World Championship. It’s very exciting though because there are so many decks that can really come out of nowhere and surprise players. There’s still time for players to prove themselves on the ladder and in seasonal tournaments too, so if you think you’ve got what it takes, it’s time to get that grind on! What champs or decks are you hoping to see? Let us know on social media! As always, you can find the official patch notes here, when they have been released.
