Fortnite Season 4 Week 9 Challenges Guide: Where Is Sharky Shell?
Epic Games has released the Fortnite Week 9 challenges for players to check out this week in Season 4. The latest batch of challenges are some of the weirdest yet, tasking players with dance at the highest and lowest points, finding Sharky Shell, and collecting some floating rings.
Fortnite Week 9 Challenges List
The Fortnite Week 9 challenges are here in Season 4. This means that we are nearing the end of this massive and amazing Marvel-themed season. It has been a great nine weeks thus far, but all things must come to an end. We are nearing the end of the normal battle royale challenges.
As far as we know, the current fourth season will continue even past the 10th and final week of missions next week — potentially for another month or so — but we do not know that for sure at this time. So, you must finish these tasks to avoid missing out on them and their rewards as soon as possible.
You can find the full list of the Fortnite Week 9 challenges below, taken from the recent data mine leaks this week. Some of the information could change by the time they release in the game itself.
- Search for seven treasure chests at Holly Hedges
- Get three eliminations at Slurpy Swamp
- Collecting the floating rings at Steamy Stacks
- Deal 500 damage to opponents at Sweaty Sands
- Land at Sharky Shell and finish in the top 25 players for that match
- Dance at the highest spot and the lowest spot on the island
- Heal seven teammates with a bandage bazooka
As you can see, this is a varied and rather intriguing list of challenges in the Fortnite Week 9 challenges in Season 4 this week. Overall, I would say that this list harkens back to the olden days of battle royale for me, with the rings and dance challenges, in particular, feeling like the Chapter 1 days.
But because of the strange and obscure nature of many of these missions, like the Sharky Shell and dance ones, you will probably need some assistance for completing these tasks. Here is everything you need to know about how to complete the Fortnite Week 9 challenges.
How to Search Chests and Get Eliminations
This week will start like any other week this season with the two mission types that will remain the same no matter what we do. The first one is to search for treasure chests yet again. This week, it happens to be Holly Hedges, which makes this task a little harder than usual.
As you probably already know, Holly Hedges is a pretty small named location compared to the rest of the pack. Though it is relatively dense for such a small garden-centric town, there aren’t many treasure chests for you to find at this location in each match you do.
Worse still, because this is part of the Fortnite Week 9 challenges in Season 4 this week, there will be plenty of players who will be searching this location for chests to grab. So, it could take you a while to do this challenge as you will probably need several matches to get seven.
We recommend that you do this challenge in the Team Rumble game mode as always, but it is really important for this particular mission. You have fewer players to worry about taking up the chests before you do, so make sure to land here immediately after jumping out of the battle bus.
The second mission is the eliminations one as always. This week, players must get three eliminations at Slurpy Swamp. Like the last challenge, you will want to do this in Team Rumble if possible since it will give you the chance to get as many eliminations as you can since you have respawns.
Three eliminations isn’t a lot, especially for Team Rumble, but predicated on actually finding enemies there in that game mode. Our recommendation is to aim for one elimination per match that you do, so be sure to land here first, so you can get that kill in.
Where to Collect Floating Rings at Steamy Stacks
For the next mission that we have to do, we have one of the more engaging ones. The floating rings mission type is back yet again in Fortnite Season 4. This week is to find the floating rings at Steamy Stacks. This is rather odd since we have done this before.
This is because the Season 3 version of this challenge was complicated and led to some major issues that made Epic Games immediately give everyone rewards. As such, it is back for round two and, fingers crossed, it will hopefully work this time around.
What is interesting is that our previous guide to the floating rings is invalid as Epic Games has brought back this challenge with some new locations for the rings. There are four in total that you need to find at this named location. The first one is on the west side of the map.
When you get there, head to the westernmost building to find the first ring on its rooftop. Go eastward from there to find the next ring atop some mechanical device in the outdoor areas.
From there, you need to go to the very center of the map so slightly southeast from the second ring to find one of the large pipes. As for the last ring, this one is in the northeastern building near the stacks.
On this building, there is a number five that you can find on the outside of it. When you find that number, head inside the nearest door, and you will find the final ring there.
For the following challenge, players need to deal 500 damage to opponents at Sweaty Sands. This is a standard one that we haven’t had in a while, but it is noteworthy for having 500 damage as the requirement. You need to deal 500 damage to opponents, or equal to five lives with health but no shields at Sweaty Sands.
Of course, Team Rumble will be the best place to get this done fast, but that is if the circle ends up close to that location. Otherwise, this could make this a bit harder to do. In that case, you should aim to get one or two eliminations at Sweaty Sands at the match’s start.
Where Is Sharky Shell?
For the fifth challenge this week, you need to land at Sharky Shell and finish in the top 25 of the match. Before we can get to the latter part of this mission, where the heck is Sharky Shell? Sharky Shell is a relatively new landmark unnamed location that doesn’t show up too much on the map.
As such, we wouldn’t be surprised if, like us, you didn’t know too much about this location before this challenge. It is obscure but relatively easy to find location on the map in the northeasternmost corner of the island.
It is directly north of Coral Castle on the big island found in that area’s northernmost section. All you need to do is land here at the very start of the match after you jump out of the battle bus. But make sure to do this in a normal battle royale match as Team Rumble will not work here.
Once you have found this location and landed there, you need to survive in whatever way you like until you have made it to the top 25 of the match. This isn’t too hard to do. You likely already do that pretty often, but if you have trouble with surviving, immediately get away from the soon-to-be popular Sharky Shell and head somewhere else.
Go to a deserted area on the edge of the next circle and keep doing that to survive, avoiding other players until you are in the top 25 to finish this mission.
Highest and Lowest Locations on the Map
For the penultimate mission in the penultimate week of challenges in Season 4, players need to dance at the map’s highest spot and the lowest spot on the map. We had something like this in Chapter 1, but we haven’t seen it return quite like this in Chapter 2.
Likely, you might not know the highest and lowest points of the entire map. Well, that is where we come in. Let’s start with the highest point of the map, which happens to be a little bit easier to find than the lowest point in particular.
You can see this from the main map as it is the top peak of the mountain in the southeastern corner of the island known as Mount Kay. This snowy mountain is directly south of Catty Corner and east of Misty Meadows, so head to the top peak here and dance away.
But that is only half of this challenge. You also need to find the lowest point on the island and dance there. If you didn’t guess it already, the lowest point of the map happens to be the very center of Coral Castle. After all, this is a pit that is technically below sea level. Head here and do your favorite dance emote to finish this challenge off.
For the final mission this week, players need to heal teammates with a bandage bazooka seven times. We haven’t had a bandage bazooka challenge in a while, but this item still exists in the game regardless. Your first task should be to locate one, so we highly recommend opening up as many chests as you can.
Once you have found a bandage bazooka, you need to use it seven times to directly heal your teammates, which involves shooting it directly at them. Seven times is a lot. Unless you do this in Team Rumble, you might not have the chance to complete this mission in one go, which may require another match or two.
Fortunately, Team Rumble is the best choice for this final mission since you can have a lot more time to look for chests. There are plenty of teammates for you to heal throughout the lengthy match with respawns. This is the game mode that we recommend you do the bandage bazooka challenge in.
Fortnite Week 9 Challenges Rewards
Completing the Fortnite Week 9 challenges for Season 4 will grant you some experience in the form of 25,000 experience per challenge. This week isn’t nearly as hard or exciting as last week was. This week is still worth doing just for the experience that you can gain from it.
That will be necessary for leveling up this season, especially for those looking to reach the highly coveted tier 100 by the end of the season. Since we don’t know for sure if this season will be extended (it probably is but still), it is better to be safe than sorry, so be sure to finish up these missions as soon as you can.
