Arena of Valor Tier List, Which Heroes Stand Above the Rest?

Arena of Valor is an impressive MOBA game that is regarded as one of the biggest games in the world for good reason. Beginning its reign as one of the kings of the genre in China, it has since spread out throughout Asia and into the rest of the world, including North America and Europe.
Originally released as a mobile game, it has also made its way to the Nintendo Switch, making it one of two MOBA games on the system at this time. Being available for both mobile and Switch allows it to reach an audience of players that games like Smite and League of Legends can’t reach.
Because it’s free to play, it’s no surprise that many players take the time to check it out since it won’t cost them anything. But if you were to boot up the game right now, you will find that there are a ton of characters to choose from. It’s enough to make anyone feel overwhelmed.
Arena of Valor Tier List
That’s where I come in. I’ve compiled together an Arena of Valor tier list that is sure to help you figure out which characters are the best to play as and who you need to check out for yourself. Currently, there are dozens upon dozens of heroes available.
This can make figuring out the best of the best in each class a challenge. After all, there are not just five but six classes that heroes can fall into. That’s one more class than many other games with classes.
There are the tank, warrior, mage, assassin, marksman, and support classes to choose from. It doesn’t stop there, though, as there are also some heroes that overlap between one or two classes, being a hybrid mix between them. This can be too much for some newcomers.
But this Arena of Valor tier list is here to help you find out who the best heroes are, not just within their respective classes, but overall as well. I am dividing up each character into one of the tiers below, starting with the best tier and going down.
Fortunately, there aren’t any bad heroes in this game, so you don’t have to worry about ever playing a terrible hero that’s a waste of time. However, there are a few that teeter on being awful, ending up in the last tier in the process. As such, I am going to explain both the best heroes in the Arena of Valor tier list as well as the worst.
Arena of Valor Tier List: SS Tier
I’ll be frank that I don’t play any of the five heroes below, and you might not either, but it’s still important to find out about each of them. These five are so amazing that they deserve their own SS Tier that ranks above the normal S Tier.
Each of them is unforgettable for one reason or another and, therefore, might be a great match for you. But if not, it’s crucial that you find out about them because you are going to encounter them on the battlefield at some point regardless. Learning how your enemy ticks will help you out in the long run.
Elsu
Elsu is a marksman who has some phenomenal stats and abilities that come at the cost of some unimportant features. He is the sniper of all marksman class, rivaled by no one in terms of taking out enemies from afar.
To start with, he has one of the best ranges in the game, able to take out enemies from insanely long distances that will make the person on the end of your shots become frustrated fast. This is made even better (worse?) by the fact that his shots deal some serious damage, too.
His amazing sniping skills do come at the cost of a lack of mobility and speed, though. But for someone who knows how to use Elsu, this won’t matter at all. In the right hands, he is a god among mortals that will keep foes at a distance and pick them off. He is versatile, too, able to handle the middle lane and jungle.
Florentino
This warrior assassin is one of the newest heroes to join the game, offering a style that is unparalleled and surprising for everyone. Though there is the possibility that he will go down in rank once players get used to him and how to counter his moves, he is unstoppable in the meantime.
Florentino is an interesting hybrid of warrior and assassin. This unique mix allows him to move swiftly around the battlefield at all times and sneak up on unsuspecting enemies. More than that, though, he is able to tear opponents apart by dancing around them with his speed.
Players who use Florentino will be able to move so fast that the enemy won’t know what hit them. He is a relentless offensive attacker. When paired with certain other heroes that buff or keep him alive, he is enhanced even further.
Lindis
Lindis remains one of the best heroes in the game and has been since her release. This marksman is able to move in a way that would make any assassin jealous. Though she is meant to attack from a range like other marksman, she is all about stealth, too.
Her sneaky aspects make her one of the fascinating heroes on the roster. She can set traps and see where enemies have been, and the bushes are her playground. You don’t want her to get the drop on you or trap you as she will take you out with strong damage, too.
Her mobility also makes her the best jungler in the game at this point. If you see a Lindis on your team, let them have the jungle as she will bob and weave through adds and surpass everyone’s levels soon. This will give her an advantage that can’t be underestimated.
Quillen
Quillen is an assassin that will put poor Butterfly to shame. Whereas she used to be the go-to for single target assassinations, Quillen is the new master of it. He is able to get in and out of battles fast, using his stealth abilities to sneak up on foes and take them out.
Like with Lindis, it’s even more important to not let Quillen sneak up on you. His single target damage is insane, spelling your death if he gets the first hit in. What makes it worse is that his powerful abilities have some nice cooldowns that will ensure he’ll be back for more soon.
To top it all off, his Assassinate skill allows him to not only sneak up on you but get away in a flash, too. A skillful Quillen player will be able to use it to make a quick escape so that you can’t track him down and finish him off. Few heroes can counter his impressive build.
Riktor
Rounding out the SS Tier is the warrior Riktor. He is the best jack of all trades in the game, able to have well-rounded stats. This makes him not the best at any one thing, but still a force to be reckoned with since he can do anything and everything.
To start with, Riktor has strong damage that allows him to take out enemies fast. In addition, he has strong mobility and speed that allows him to get in and out of danger, too. But even if he is caught off guard or is stuck in the middle of a fight with someone, he can hold his own.
Riktor is able to survive well against most enemies, dealing damage while staying alive in the process. This makes him like a beefed-up Arthur that is focused more on damage output than the tanky side of things. Without a doubt, he’s one of the best on this Arena of Valor tier list.
Arena of Valor Tier List: S Tier
Though the SS Tier ranked heroes are gods that shouldn’t be ignored, the S Tier characters aren’t too shabby either. This tier has a ton of heroes ranging from every class possible, offering someone for everyone. This section of the Arena of Valor tier list just goes to show how impressive the roster is with so many fantastic heroes that are balanced well.

Arena of Valor Tier List: A Tier
It’s crazy that we are in the third tier of the Arena of Valor tier list, and even still, these heroes aren’t ones to be trifled with. The heroes on this list might not have the most awesome stats or utility, but they are really great on their own. All of them will treat you well, and they shouldn’t be underestimated on the battlefield.

Arena of Valor Tier List: B Tier
While the B Tier is the second-to-last tier on this list, they are still great heroes that deserve your attention. For one reason or another, they do have some hiccups or issues that keep them from rising to the A Tier but are worth your time, nonetheless. In the right hands, they can still be the MVP of a match.

Arena of Valor Tier List: C Tier
Here we are with the final tier on the Arena of Valor Tier List: the C Tier. Like I mentioned before, there are no bad heroes in the game at all. These five characters are still good, but they have more issues than the B Tier. Whether they have too many weaknesses or need a solid buff, these heroes are worth checking out, but it’s important to know the risks.
Ilumia
Ilumia is a textbook case of a buff or two and she’d be standing strong with the other heroes in the B Tier. Unlike some of the characters in this section, she isn’t hopeless at all. This mage and support hybrid tries to balance the two classes too much and loses at both in the process.
Her damage as a mage is less than average, with so many other ones (including Veera down below) doing a better job of taking out foes. It would help if her support was great, but the only strong part of that is her ultimate.
Her ultimate ability is fantastic when paired with the damage-dealing fighters, but it’s not enough to surpass other heroes who do similar actions. It hurts her, too, that she dies too easily on the battlefield before being able to contribute much to the team.
Omega
Omega continues to get buffs to his abilities that have made him not the terrible hero he once was, but it’s still not enough. This support tank’s main ability is being able to take down structures like a boss. While that’s awesome in concept, it renders him useless otherwise.
He can damage towers well with his abilities, in addition to stunning them. If he’s partnered up with a strong companion who can take out the enemy team, he’ll make for a solid addition to your team. Beyond that, though, you’re better off putting almost any other tank on your team.
This is because many matches don’t come down to taking out the structures. In fact, sometimes having a team that is best suited to taking out opponents will let you take out their structures in the process. Maybe with some tweaks to his stats, he could become something more than an average hero.
Skud
Skud is the closest on this list to climbing out of the C Tier. This supporting tank deals some surprising burst damage that will do well against a number of opponents. In addition, he is able to control the field well and keep enemies at bay.
This gives him some solid damage and support, but where he fails is in his tank abilities. He is a mediocre tank that is able to take some damage but not enough to be your sole damage sponge on your team. It doesn’t help that his damage isn’t amazing enough to make him a worthy warrior, either. However, with some key tweaks to Skud, he could be a great hero easily.
Toro
Oh, Toro. Both him and Omega used to be at the bottom of this list, and Toro remains there. Even with some changes and buffs, he remains the worst fighter in the game, period. Thankfully, though, his changes have been enough to make sure that he isn’t an awful hero per se.
This means that you are able to use Toro now and not worry about being the weakest link on your team. Even still, Toro does make me question why anyone would want to use him. Toro’s only saving grace is that he is a solid tank.
Toro has some decent defense that can keep foes at bay while your team deals some serious damage. But that’s it. Beyond his high defense, he has nothing else to offer. While all other tanks at least can deal damage or control the field or annoy the enemy, Toro is just a damage sponge, and that’s all there is to him. He needs a serious rework from the ground up to be more than this.
Veera
Veera is a mage who is great at fighting enemies one on one. Unfortunately, like Toro, that’s all there is to her. She isn’t able to do anything else beyond that like controlling the enemy or surviving long enough to last in multiple fights.
But if you are able to learn her well and fight a single enemy at a time, chances are that you could win. The problem happens when she is up against more than one enemy. She dies way too fast and isn’t able to handle more than one opponent at a time.
All of her abilities are geared towards focusing her energy on one person. This limits what she can do but not nearly as bad as in the case of Toro. She can be a heavy hitter and be one of the top killers in the right hands, but she needs to be able to do more than that to move up the ranks.
