10 Mortal Kombat 11 Guest Characters That Would Be Amazing
Mortal Kombat 11 is one of the premier fighting games available right now. This eleventh entry in the long-running franchise is one of its strongest games to date. It buckles down on all of the features and mechanics that made the series so beloved while making smart additions to what already exists.
The brilliant gameplay is the same as ever before with the ability to play using gorgeous graphics and participate in a well-written, lengthy story that will keep players entertained. This is all before mentioning the numerous modes, both offline and online, that keep players interested.
To top it all off, Mortal Kombat 11 has a varied character roster that is decent in size and contains both new and old fighters alike. This strong roster is what keeps players coming back for more day after day since the game’s launch in April earlier this year.
Mortal Kombat 11 Guest Characters
But the fact of the matter is that the Mortal Kombat 11 roster isn’t complete. Like any great fighting game, there is always room to improve with more characters for players to choose from. These can be existing fighters who missed out on this game to off-the-wall dream crossovers.
By far, the most exciting part of a fighting game roster is the guest characters that join the game. With this game, in particular, there are going to be at least three Mortal Kombat 11 guest characters. That’s standard for what’s happened in the last two games.
The reboot of sorts Mortal Kombat 2011 introduced the idea of having guest characters show up in a mainline game in the series. We saw the likes of Kratos from God of War and several more. This trend continued in the game’s sequel Mortal Kombat X where we saw more DLC fighters like the Alien from the Alien movies.
With the knowledge of who came before in previous games and the possibility of what could happen now, players are understandably excited for the Mortal Kombat 11 guest characters. There will be three of them in the Kombat Pack, with only one fighter confirmed thus far.
That fighter is the comic book character Spawn. There have been plenty of rumors and leaks regarding who the final two Mortal Kombat 11 guest characters will be, but I’m not here to speculate on that in this post. Instead, I’m going to go over the 10 crossover characters that need to happen.
I didn’t have too many requirements for this list other than it had to be plausible and that there had to be some level of reason for the character to be in the game. After all, it just doesn’t make any sense for Mario to show up in a game where characters have their heads ripped from their spines even if it is available on Nintendo Switch.
Using these criteria, this does mean that Pennywise is, unfortunately, not eligible for this list since he’s been all but confirmed to not happen in Mortal Kombat 11. Without further ado, here are the 10 Mortal Kombat 11 guest characters that need to happen.
1. Michael Myers
Developer NetherRealm Studios began a trend of what makes a great guest character in the last two games by incorporating horror villain icons like Freddy Krueger. With the exception of Kratos (though he was a horror at times in his own right), the other five DLC fighters were horror themed.
As such, it would make sense for there to be one or two more horror villains in this game. The first that came to mind is Michael Myers, the slashing masked serial killer from the Halloween movies. Myers would make sense within the gory world with his brutal killing methods.
Michael Myers could feature unique gameplay that emphasizes his stealthy killer ways. He could be much slower than other fighters with the ability to get faster as he stalks his prey. He could have the opportunity to instill fear into his foes, making them weaker and him stronger as the fight goes on.
As we’ve seen in the past, the DC Comics universe is heavily rooted in the NetherRealm games. From Mortal Kombat Versus DC to the Injustice series, Batman and the gang aren’t new to brutal fighting games. Given how closely tied DC Comics is to Mortal Kombat, it’d be wrong not to include someone from DC.
The best choice for this is Joker. He’s already been in a few fighting games, utilizing his trickery to fool his opponents. He fits best within this game, considering he is a villain and has been known to be sinister in the past. It’d be great to see one of the grounded versions of Joker in the game.
It could be a darker Joker who isn’t afraid to undermine his enemies and take advantage of them. It would be equally impressive if his fatality or brutality was a callback to the comics like the famous Death in the Family arc.
3. The Tyrant
Enough about movie and comic book heroes for a moment. Mortal Kombat isn’t against having fellow video game characters join the roster, and a popular choice right now would be the Tyrant from Resident Evil 2 Remake.
The remake of the blocky PlayStation One horror game is one of the best-selling and beloved games this year so far. It brought the old game to modern platforms with stunning visuals and the terrifying Tyrant. Mr. X is so popular that he has spawned his own memes and videos on the internet.
Like Michael Myers, he would be a slower character in matches. But he would be a walking tank, too, able to withstand more hits than most other fighters. And to top it all off, if he’s able to get close to you, he could destroy you in just a few hits with his powerful blows.
Warner Bros. remains the publisher of the Mortal Kombat series also known as the company with the rights to the movie adaptations of the Harry Potter series. Warner Bros. has been known to also make Harry Potter games in the past, so a crossover with this game isn’t impossible.
But what character would fit within the brutal universe of realms fighting one another? Well, none other than the man who shall not be named himself, Voldemort. This nose-less villain of the book and movie series is iconic for his dark magical arts.
This would allow Voldemort to be one of the few fighters who exclusively uses ranged attacks in battle. He could be a glass cannon of sorts, able to deal massive magical damage from afar but unable to take too many hits if you are able to close the gap.
Venom is by far the most unlikely candidate on this Mortal Kombat 11 guest characters list, but it’s still worth mentioning, nonetheless. What makes the character not really possible is that he hails from Marvel, the archnemesis of the DC Comics label.
Regardless, stranger things have happened, so there is still a chance we could see Venom in the game. His personality, looks, and abilities best fit Mortal Kombat. This dark Spider-Man anti-hero could be free to be as relentless as possible in the game.
He would be able to pull enemies to him like Scorpion but then swing up to avoid attacks and then trap players in a web. These are just a few of the possibilities for Venom if he were to show up as one of the guest characters.
6. John Wick
The hottest movie icon (and actor) right now is John Wick along with his actor Keanu Reeves. We’ve already seen that Reeves will be showing up in Cyberpunk 2077 as one of the main characters. Did I mention that that game is also published by Warner Bros.?
Well, it is, so there is already this important connection that could allow for Keanu Reeves and his action revenge hero John Wick to appear as one of the fighters. If you’ve seen any of the three movies in the series, you will know that it is all about action-packed, gory battle scenes.
That is just the type of character that would work as one of the Mortal Kombat 11 guest characters. John Wick could use a mix of ranged weapons like guns, pistols, grenades, and so on as combos to take out enemies from afar while still having decent capabilities at close range with a knife and fists.
Sony has shown in the past with Kratos that it is willing to allow some of its characters to appear in a Mortal Kombat game. While Kratos could show up again in this game with his new and improved Nordic appearance, that’s not the most exciting choice.
It would be far more interesting for Aloy, the main hero of Horizon Zero Dawn, to show up. For those who don’t know, Aloy is a strong female protagonist who hails from a post-apocalyptic future where robotic dinosaurs and tribes roam the earth.
In the game, Aloy uses a variety of weapons like bows, spears, and so on to take down creatures. This would allow Aloy to have a versatile weapon set in the game, able to attack from a long range but also quickly run up and deal close range attacks, too.
8. Agent 47
Another game that Warner Bros. published is Hitman 2. The star of this game, Agent 47, would work well as one of the Mortal Kombat 11 guest characters. He is a trained hitman assassin who has countless methods of taking down his targets.
As such, he would be a force to be reckoned with as one of the guest fighters. I can already picture it now as he is able to get up close and personal, beating the enemy to death or even strangling them from behind when he grapples them.
This would make him one of the more physical fighters, mostly using his fists to do the talking. It would be intriguing if he could use his disguises in some way, too, during battle. He could switch between characters from across the series that allow him to use different attacks.
9. Geralt of Rivia
Yet another Warner Bros. published game is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Star of this, and previous games, is Geralt of Rivia. Geralt is a witcher, someone who hunts down magical beasts and otherworldly creatures that are threats to mankind.
Hailing from a medieval-focused series, he would be a one-of-a-kind addition to the fighter roster. It wouldn’t be so surprising to see him in the game, either, as he already appeared as a guest character in another fighting game, Soulcalibur VI.
In Mortal Kombat 11, Geralt would be able to use his wide selection of tools to take down his foes. Perhaps he could have both of his swords available with each doing different things to enemies. In addition, he could have his magical signs to stun or deal damage from far away.
10. Pyramid Head
Rounding out this list is one last horror character that would be a perfect fit as one of the Mortal Kombat 11 guest characters, and that’s the Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill series. Pyramid Head is by far the most iconic villain of the psychological horror games, making for a recognizable addition.
It would be disheartening for players who jump into a match, only to be greeted by this scary creation. The creepy killer would have a bloody outfit with the signature pyramid on his head. Along with that, he’d have his massive sword to fight with.
Pyramid Head could be a little faster than other horror villains on this list, able to zoom in on an unsuspecting foe and slash at them with his large weapon. I can only imagine the bone-chilling fatalities that he could have for finishing off his enemy. This is one crossover that needs to happen.
